It's leaking all around the lid and when the filter is running, it pushs out of that area with force and shoots it out. Any time that you open the circulation system air will enter and the water will drain to the lowest point. I may leave work early today and as soon as I try, I'll post a response. I'll add an addendum after the sock fails. I can't tell you how many hours I spent using my net trying to fish everything out. I had to clean the screw channels on basket and top, and the o-ring, very well to get a good seal without having to screw it down so tightly that it was hard to get off. This will keep it from sinking to the bottom and possibly impinging the movement of your pool sweep. However, I don't see any links to the problem I'm having. Mine is in the housing and the lid is then flat but yours could be grroved in the lid and flat on the housing. There are no cracks in the lid or housing so at this point, I'm lost even more than when I began!! I tried lubing up the o-ring a lot more and tapping the lid to the close position but still leaking. Can't believe this has been going on for 2 weeks now. Also, twist it around so that when it floats on top of the water the handle part sticks up.
The replacement basket fits perfectly in the pump and you wouldn't be able to tell the difference. It read 30 when I started and now reads 20 since I've accidentally relieved pressure while unscrewing the filter basket and lettering it drain momentarily. My pump works fine so I'm not so inclined to go to that extent yet. It seems to sound like it is running correctly. I just purchased a home from a family memeber and the pool has been set up for about 10 years.
Turning the pool pump on and off or having a variable speed motor can decrease electric motor life. She ask me how easy it was for me to insert the lid and close it and I told her it was very easy, required little to no pressure to insert and close. More than once I made someone come back out here to open it and one had to replace one he broke getting it off. Hello all, the lid is leaking both when the pump is on and off.
